GOVERNOR’S RESIDENCE

- GOVERNOR’S RESIDENCE
- The Governor’s Residence at Lombaardstraat 25 in Hasselt is a late 18th-century neoclassical building that originally served as the official residence of the Governor of Limburg. The building was designed by architect Paul Saintenoy and has undergone various alterations and extensions over the years.
- In the 19th century, the building was expanded with an eclectic rear extension, which included a coach house, several salons, a dining room with a basement kitchen, and a winter garden. Notable features include the colorful stained-glass windows, designed by Privat Livemont and executed by glass artist Raphaël Evaldre. Another valuable element is the wrought-iron partition by P. Desmedt, located between the hall and the dining room.
- More recently, the building underwent restoration and refurbishment works, including roof renovations and painting of the interior and exterior woodwork. The works were carried out by contractor Renotec, in collaboration with HASA Architects and Kalk Architects.
