- WALPUT ALLEY
- The Walputsteeg in Hasselt is a charming and historic little street, known as “the coziest street in Hasselt.” Located behind the town hall, it forms a peaceful oasis in the city center. The name “Walputsteeg” refers to the Walpots family, who were active in the region during the 15th century.
- In the 19th century, the southern side of the street was home to the Ursuline convent, while the northern side was characterized by bourgeois houses from the second half of the 19th century. A notable feature of the street is the former police and fire station.
- Today, Walputsteeg hosts several hospitality venues, including Brasserie De Orangerie, known for its warm atmosphere and heated terrace. The street is a popular destination for both local residents and visitors looking for a quiet spot to enjoy a drink or a meal.
