THE CARNIVAL STATUE

- THE CARNIVAL STATUE
- The statue at the Kempische GATE at the end of Thonissenlaan in Hasselt is a bronze artwork reflecting the city’s rich history. It was officially inaugurated on 21 November 2015 to mark the 66th anniversary of the Royal Order of the Klaverblât, a Hasselt carnival association. The sculpture was designed by artist Wilfried Decock and symbolizes the association’s connection to the city, with special attention to the giant pair Bèrb and Piersus, who play a central role in the carnival celebrations.
- The statue is located near the old Kempische district, where the association originated. Its placement highlights both the historical significance of the location and the cultural importance of the association for the city of Hasselt.
