THE PIOT
- DE PIOT
- In front of the Refugiehuis in Hasselt stands the bronze statue “De Piot”, depicting a young soldier from World War II. It honors the soldiers of the Eleventh Line Regiment, which was stationed in Hasselt. The figure wears a typical soldier’s cap and stands with straight shoulders, symbolizing the courage and dedication of these young servicemen. The work was created by artist Marc Cox and commemorates the city’s rich military history.
