- In the heart of Hasselt, on the Fruit Market near Stadsmus, stands the bronze statue of Count Arnold IV of Loon, designed by Marc Cox and unveiled in 1993. The statue depicts Arnold on horseback, wearing chainmail, symbolizing his historical role as Count of Loon.
- Arnold IV (c. 1200–1273) ruled from 1227 to 1273 and granted Hasselt city rights in 1232, a crucial step in the city’s development. The statue is a recognizable symbol of Hasselt’s rich medieval history, complete with a replica of his original seal.
