SINT JOSEPH COLLEGE

- SAINT JOSEPH COLLEGE
- Saint Joseph College, located on Guffenslaan, was founded in 1881–1882 as a Catholic boys’ school during the Belgian school conflicts.
- Designed by architect Léon Jaminé, the building features neo-Gothic architecture with red brick, pointed arches, and a distinctive tower.
- The complex originally included classrooms, a chapel, and a peaceful courtyard, and soon became an important center for education in Hasselt.
- In 1999, the school merged with the Virga Jesse Humaniora to form today’s Virga Jesse College.
- The building is now a protected heritage site and remains a landmark along the Guffenslaan, reflecting the city’s strong educational and religious traditions.
