SOLO ORTO MEMORIAL

- SOLO ORTO MEMORIAL
- The Solo Orto Memorial is an artwork in Hasselt, designed by Limburg artist Raf Verjans and unveiled in 1993. It is located on the Fruit Market, near Stadsmus.
- The title “Sole Orto” literally means “rising sun” in Italian. The work consists of a circular structure with a human figure seemingly growing out of it. The circle symbolizes a new day, a fresh start, and invites reflection on time, growth, and transformation.
- The artwork was donated by Hasselt’s local merchants and serves as a symbol of the energy and resilience of the city’s shopkeepers.
