TIHH 100 YEARS

- TIHH 100 YEARS
- On May 2, 2006, a sculpture was inaugurated on the Green Boulevard, near the pedestrian tunnel to Boomkensstraat. It was created by the students and teachers of the Technical Institute Heilig Hart in collaboration with the internationally renowned Moroccan artist Moa Bennani.
- The artwork commemorates the school’s 100th anniversary and symbolizes the bond between Hasselt and its Moroccan partner cities Missour and Outat-El-Haj.
- The piece consists of two large steel plates, each three meters high, with the number 100 cut out in letters. Passers-by are encouraged to walk through and sit on it. The sculpture weighs nearly two tons.
- The artwork was unveiled in the presence of artist Moa Bennani, his assistant Youssef Ameur, students and teachers from the Technical Institute Heilig Hart, members of Hasselt’s Moroccan community, and representatives of the City Council.
- Alderman Toon Hermans met the socially engaged artist Moa Bennani during a visit to Morocco as part of the development of the twinning between the cities.
