HENDRIK VAN VELDEKE

- HENDRIK VAN VELDEKE
Who Was Hendrik van Veldeke
He was a medieval poet and minstrel, born around 1128 in Veldeke, on the border between Spalbeek (Hasselt) and Kermt.
He is generally regarded as one of the first — if not the first — poets in what we now call Dutch literature.
Some of his best-known works include The Life of Saint Servatius (around 1170) and the Eneas Romance (an adaptation of the classical Aeneid).
